Awareness Ride
Say No To Drugs Ride
In 2022, I joined a powerful awareness ride — “Say No to Drugs” — an event that united bikers from across Mumbai to take a stand against drug abuse. It wasn’t just another ride; it was a movement with a purpose.
The ride was flagged off from the under-construction Coastal Police Station in Mahim and rolled through the city, finally reaching Nariman Point. Along the way, our bikes carried bright boards with a simple yet strong message: “Say No to Drugs.” The sound of Royal Enfields and other machines thundered through the streets, not just as noise — but as a wake-up call.
What made this ride even more impactful was the presence of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) — Mumbai Zonal Unit, led by Additional Director Shri. Amit Gawathe, IRS (2008 Batch), who, along with his team, rode with us. Their involvement sent a strong message: awareness isn’t just for show — it’s action, responsibility, and community coming together.
The event was organized by the NCB in collaboration with the Qadam Foundation, both playing a key role in bringing together bikers, volunteers, and supporters. As we stopped at key points along the route, we took the opportunity to talk to people, share the goal of the ride, and engage with the community.
At the closing ceremony, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President B.N. Tiwari handed out certificates and tokens of appreciation, honoring everyone who took part in the cause.
Looking back, it was more than just a group ride — it was a reminder that even small actions, done together, can spark important conversations and change mindsets. And in that moment, being a biker meant being part of something far bigger.
